THE HLT Foundation was started in 2001. It was created by Timothy Odom in an attempt to use his technology background to assist public school students in the DC area with understanding how technology ties in with the various future careers they may pursue. As a graduate of the DC Public School System, Mr. Odom noticed a seeming lack of technological resources that focused on helping students understand how to apply technology to their various career paths. In addtion, he desired to provide students with access to technological resources that they might not be able to afford.

Over time, the HLT Foundation began to focus on more than just technological understanding. It also encompassed another issue that faces many public schools in the DC Metropolitan area, literacy. With the additional support of JoDom Publishing, The HLT Foundation was able to focus on Reading, Literacy and Technology. It is the firm belief of The HLT Foundation that improving Literacy and Technology within students will create an educated tomorrow and foster more leaders from the DC Metropolitan school system.
